Arrest Made After Poinciana Road Rage Shooting Leaves Man Shot in the Face

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL. — What started as two drivers cutting each other off on a busy Poinciana roadway exploded into gunfire Tuesday afternoon — and nearly turned deadly.

Deputies say 30-year-old Josue Gabriel Astacio opened fire from his Mercedes, unleashing three bullets into a Ford Expedition during a heated road rage battle. One of those shots struck the driver in the face, shattering glass and sending chaos onto the roadway.

Despite his injuries, the victim — who had just celebrated his 41st birthday — managed to speed away to Poinciana Medical Center for help. It was hospital staff who called 911, alerting deputies to the shocking attack. His current condition has not yet been released.

Sheriff Christopher Blackmon said Astacio tried to cover his tracks by stashing his Mercedes in Kissimmee, then fleeing with the help of his girlfriend to Hialeah in Miami-Dade County. But the escape didn’t last long. Deputies tracked him down and arrested him, finding $10,000 in cash and drugs inside the home where he was hiding.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the Mercedes is now being processed for evidence. Once returned to Central Florida, Astacio will face several charges, including attempted murder.

Sheriff Blackmon didn’t mince words when addressing drivers after the broad-daylight shooting:

“Don’t get into a road rage incident. Let it go,” he warned.
