95-Year-Old Driver Turns Into Path of Motorcycle, Causing Serious Crash in Clearwater

Clearwater, FL – A violent collision on State Road 580 Tuesday afternoon left a motorcyclist with serious injuries after a 95-year-old driver turned directly into her path, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:30 PM on September 23, 2025, just east of Summerdale Drive. Investigators say a Honda Accord, driven by a 95-year-old Clearwater woman, was traveling eastbound and stopped in the center turn lane. As she attempted to turn left, she crossed directly into the path of a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a 40-year-old Clearwater woman.

The motorcycle struck the side of the sedan, throwing the rider onto the roadway. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Troopers say the investigation remains ongoing.

Traffic in the area was snarled for hours as Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Clearwater police diverted drivers around the scene. Photos from the crash site show troopers blocking lanes with cones as investigators worked in the midday heat.
