41-Year-Old Man Dies After Cliff Jump Attempt at Clear Creek
Winslow, AZ (July 24, 2025) — A 41-year-old man from Flagstaff has died following a tragic cliff-jumping accident at Clear Creek in Winslow earlier this week.
According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched to the popular water recreation spot around 3:24 p.m. on July 21, after reports of a seriously injured individual. Witnesses said the man attempted to leap from an estimated 80 to 100-foot cliff, but miscalculated the jump and suffered critical injuries upon impact.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, Winslow Police Department, Action Medical, Winslow Fire Department, and Guardian Air. First responders worked swiftly to recover the man from the water and coordinated an airlift to Flagstaff Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
“This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of the individual during this incredibly difficult time,” said Sheriff David M. Clouse. “We are grateful to all of the first responders who acted swiftly and worked together in a challenging situation.”
Sheriff Clouse also issued a reminder for the public to exercise extreme caution around cliffs and waterways, especially during Arizona’s busy summer season.
