Hernando County, FL — A 34-year-old Hernando man has been sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to multiple charges involving child sexual abuse material.

Mark Anthony Mazur pleaded guilty last week to sixteen counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device. In addition to his prison sentence, Judge Stephen E. Tonerordered that Mazur serve 10 years of Sexual Offender Probation following his release.

The investigation began on December 23, 2024, when detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO)executed a search warrant at the residence where Mazur was living. The warrant was issued after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children provided a cyber tip indicating that an account linked to Mazur contained sexually explicit material involving minors.

During the search, Mazur admitted to owning the social media account identified in the tip and acknowledged knowing it contained illicit content. He also confessed to using his cell phone to access the material and store it.

A forensic analysis of Mazur’s phone uncovered additional videos of child sexual abuse material, leading to his arrest.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Kasey Whitson.
