Florence, AZ – May 28, 2025 – Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller announced today the success of a coordinated multi-agency operation aimed at disrupting human smuggling and other illegal activities along the Interstate 10 corridor. The targeted law enforcement effort, which concentrated on the Casa Grande and Arizona City areas of Pinal County, resulted in multiple felony arrests and significant contraband seizures.
The four-day operation, conducted between May 12 and May 15, involved a collaborative effort between the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Anti-Smuggling Units, Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol, and the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.
During the operation, law enforcement officers conducted 116 traffic stops. These interactions led to ten undocumented migrants being turned over to Border Patrol/ICE. Additionally, the operation resulted in three felony arrests following the seizure of 1 ounce of cocaine and 2.5 pounds of heroin. K-9 units were instrumental, with two confirmed alerts leading directly to the seizures of illegal drugs.
“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting our communities from the dangers posed by criminal activity and human smuggling,” said Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller. “I want to thank our law enforcement partners for their vigilance and professionalism during this operation.”
Miller emphasized that these efforts will persist. “This is not the end,” he added. “We will continue to aggressively pursue those who attempt to exploit our highways to commit crimes that endanger Pinal County citizens. My office is committed to ensuring that criminals will be held accountable.”
The cases stemming from the operation are currently under review by the Pinal County Attorney’s Office, and formal charges are expected to be filed. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Pinal County Attorney’s Office, led by Brad Miller, is dedicated to prosecuting criminals, promoting justice, and ensuring public safety throughout the county. Miller, a seasoned prosecutor with over 17 years of experience, including his tenure in the Sex Crimes Bureau of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office and his service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, brings a distinguished record of public service to his role. The office, with a staff of over 180 professionals, prosecutes more than 2,500 felonies and 1,000 misdemeanors annually and provides over 25,000 services to crime victims, serving as a cornerstone of justice for Pinal County.
