SPCA Florida Expands Veterinary Services to Include Rabbits, Reptiles, Ferrets, and Other Exotic Pets

LAKELAND, Fla. — Pet owners with rabbits, reptiles, ferrets, and other small companion animals now have more veterinary care options in Central Florida.

SPCA Florida announced that its Veterinary Clinic in Lakeland has expanded its list of patients to include a wider variety of small and exotic pets. The clinic now welcomes rabbits, ferrets, snakes, tortoises, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, and mice, offering comprehensive veterinary services designed to keep these unique companions healthy.

The full-service Veterinary Clinic provides routine wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, spay and neuter surgeries, dental care, X-rays, and more advanced medical procedures. The clinic also features an in-house pharmacy to meet pets' ongoing healthcare needs.

"Whether your companion hops, slithers, scurries, or scampers, our Veterinary Clinic is here to help," SPCA Florida said in announcing the expanded services.

The organization says it remains committed to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care while maintaining an efficient appointment schedule focused on the safety and well-being of both pets and their owners.

The Veterinary Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closing daily from 11:30 a.m. to noon for lunch. The clinic is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Founded in 1979, SPCA Florida is dedicated to eliminating animal suffering and promoting animal welfare throughout the community. Each year, the nonprofit provides medical care to approximately 20,000 dogs and cats through its Animal Medical Center and directly cares for about 4,000 animals through its Adoption Center. The organization also supports pet owners through programs that provide food and medical assistance to families in need.

SPCA Florida also partners with organizations including the Orlando Cat Café and Petco Lakeland to support pet adoption and animal wellness initiatives across Central Florida.
