Woman Arrested After Suspicious Activity at Lakeland Funeral Home

LAKELAND, Fla. — A late-night stroll through a closed funeral home property ended in arrest for a Brevard County woman, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 53-year-old Tiffany Gilliland Vinci of Melbourne was taken into custody Thursday night after being spotted acting suspiciously outside a funeral home in Lakeland.

According to investigators, a deputy observed Vinci around 9:22 PM walking around the property, peering into windows, and moving between bushes and shadowed areas. The business was closed at the time.

When approached, Vinci told the deputy she was simply admiring the pictures and items inside the building.

“Perhaps,” officials noted — but further investigation revealed more.

A records check showed Vinci was currently on felony probation for burglary and theft, raising additional concerns about her presence at the location.

Authorities also reported that Vinci has an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for burglary, theft-related offenses, fraud, drug possession, DUI, battery, trespassing, and providing false information to law enforcement.

Vinci was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with:

Loitering and Prowling (Misdemeanor 2)
Violation of Probation
