Speeding Motorcycle Crash on Orange Avenue Leaves Orlando Rider Dead
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 49-year-old Orlando motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning following a crash on Orange Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. on March 1, 2026, near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Wetherbee Road in Orange County.
According to the official press release, the rider was operating a 2019 Yamaha MTN1000 motorcycle southbound on Orange Avenue, north of Wetherbee Road. Investigators report the motorcyclist was traveling above the posted speed limit and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The motorcycle ran off the road to the right, struck a curb, and the rider was thrown from the vehicle. The rider, a 49-year-old male from Orlando, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities confirmed the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Next of kin have been notified.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
