Woman Arrested on Aggravated Child Abuse Charge Following Pool Incident at Gaylord Palms

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A Fort Myers woman was arrested Friday afternoon following an alleged child abuse incident at the Gaylord Palms Resort pool area, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the resort just after 4:30 p.m. on December 19, 2025, after receiving a report of a battery involving a child. Investigators say multiple witnesses observed three children playing in the pool when the splashing escalated and became aggressive.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect, 36-year-old Tiffany Lee Griffith of Fort Myers, entered the pool and began yelling at a 6-year-old boy after she claimed the child had dunked her own 6-year-old son underwater. Deputies say Griffith then placed her hands on the child’s shoulders and forcibly pushed him underwater for several seconds.

The child was able to get out of the pool and was described as visibly upset and suffering from a nosebleed. He immediately reported the incident to his parents. Investigators say Griffith then began yelling at the child’s mother before leaving the pool area.

Deputies later located Griffith and placed her under arrest. She was charged with aggravated child abuse and transported to the Osceola County Jail, where she was booked without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
