Reckless Ride, Real Consequences: Troopers Nab Driver After Wild I-10 Charger Chase
CASA GRANDE, AZ — A late-night call from a concerned motorist set off a chain of events that ended with one very bold — and very busted — driver in handcuffs.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a caller reported a gray Dodge Charger barreling down I-10 outside Casa Grande, drifting between lanes, riding the shoulder, and accelerating unpredictably. The behavior was so erratic that the driver appeared unable — or unwilling — to control the vehicle.
A Highway Patrol State Trooper soon caught sight of two Dodge Chargers traveling together near Sunland Glen Road, one of which matched the exact description and license plate given by the witness. The gray Charger continued its dangerous display, weaving through traffic and rapidly speeding up and slowing down.

Both cars exited I-10 at Sunshine Boulevard and pulled into a truck-stop gas station. When Troopers approached, the driver of the gray Charger suddenly lost all that earlier confidence — becoming evasive about whether he had even been behind the wheel.
Things only got stranger from there.
The driver had no identification and was instructed to write down his name, address, and date of birth. Troopers quickly discovered the information was false, and the car wasn’t registered to him at all. Using MVD driver records and photos, Troopers confirmed his real identity and placed him under arrest.
He was booked on multiple charges, including:
- False reporting to law enforcement
- Reckless driving
- Driving on a suspended license
And here’s the wholesome twist:
Troopers contacted the motorist who made the original call — and he was ecstatic to hear the outcome. His report directly helped stop a dangerous driver and potentially prevented a serious crash.
