Hit-and-Run Crash Kills Bicyclist on US-92 in Hillsborough County
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A late-night crash on US-92 turned deadly Saturday after a bicyclist was struck and killed by a driver who then fled the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened on December 20, 2025, at approximately 10:37 p.m., along US-92 east of Mobile Villa Drive. Investigators report that a vehicle traveling westbound veered onto the shoulder of the roadway and collided with a bicyclist who was also traveling westbound.
After the impact, the driver did not stop and fled the scene. The vehicle involved is described as possibly a silver or dark-colored mid-sized SUV, though investigators say details remain limited as the investigation continues.
The bicyclist, identified as a 38-year-old man from Nicaragua, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the hit-and-run and is asking for the public’s help. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, has dash-cam footage, or has information about the suspect vehicle is urged to contact *FHP (*347)or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
