FDLE Continues Search for Missing Lakeland Air Force Veteran Brian Klecha Eight Years Later
TAMPA, Fla. — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says it remains fully committed to solving the disappearance of Lakeland Air Force veteran Brian Edward Klecha, nearly eight years after he was last seen.
Brian Klecha vanished in late December 2017 at the age of 35. According to investigators, Klecha was last seen on December 27, 2017, while making a banking transaction at a MIDFLORIDA Credit Union branch in Auburndale. He had ties to Orange, Polk, and Hillsborough counties and was employed by the Disney Corporation at the time of his disappearance.
On February 11, 2018, Klecha’s Jeep Patriot was discovered abandoned along State Road 618 near the Morgan Street exit in Tampa. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been involved in a crash several days before it was found.
FDLE officials say evidence suggests Klecha did not leave on his own. Agents believe he may have been the victim of domestic violence or drug-related abuse.
“Eight years have passed and we are just as committed as ever to finding out the truth of what happened,” said FDLE Tampa Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell. “If you have any information that can help us locate Brian, no matter how small, call us. Even the tiniest shred of information can bring him that much closer to coming home.”
Anyone with information about the whereabouts or disappearance of Brian Edward Klecha is urged to contact FDLE Special Agent Rich Rodriguez at (813) 878-7347.
More information about the case can be found through FDLE.
