High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest After Motorcycle Hits Over 180 MPH Through Mesa and Tempe

Mesa–Tempe, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — A Sunday night joyride turned into a full-throttle felony when a motorcyclist tried to outrun an Arizona Highway Patrol Trooper — and nearly succeeded.

According to AZDPS, the incident began when a motorcycle blew past a marked Highway Patrol Camaro on US-60 near Val Vista Drive, clocking speeds well over 100 MPH. The Trooper attempted to catch up, but the rider accelerated further, initiating a high-speed pursuit.

The chase stretched across roughly 15 miles, racing through Mesa and Tempe, from US-60 onto I-10 and AZ-143, in under seven minutes. At one point, the Trooper’s Camaro reportedly hit its top speed of 183 MPH, yet the motorcycle was still able to pull away multiple times.

Eventually, the rider gave up and came to a stop without further incident.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked on charges of:

• Felony Flight
• Criminal Speeding

The motorcycle was impounded for 20 days.
