OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Not every 911 call involves a crime, emergency lights, or a trip to jail. Sometimes, it is simply a neighbor in need.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office recently shared a heartwarming story involving a woman in her 90s who contacted 911 after her stove stopped working, leaving her unable to cook meals in her home.
While the situation was not a traditional law enforcement matter, deputies and members of the Sheriff's Office Community Services/Outreach team recognized that the caller needed assistance and immediately began looking for a solution.
After learning about the woman's circumstances, the outreach team contacted Hodgins Home Appliance in St. Cloud. The local business quickly stepped forward and generously donated a replacement stove to help the senior regain a vital part of her daily routine.

Photos released by the Sheriff's Office show the woman alongside community members who helped coordinate the effort, as well as the replacement appliance being transported for delivery.
The Sheriff's Office said the story serves as a reminder that serving the community often extends beyond public safety. Sometimes, helping residents means addressing everyday challenges that can become overwhelming, particularly for seniors living alone.
Officials praised both their Community Services/Outreach team and Hodgins Home Appliance for coming together to make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
In a world where many headlines focus on crime and tragedy, this story highlights how a simple act of kindness—and a working stove—can make all the difference.
"Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can have the biggest impact," the Sheriff's Office said.
