SORRENTO, Fla. — A death investigation is underway after a woman was found deceased Wednesday morning near a major Lake County roadway interchange.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), troopers were requested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation in the area of State Road 46 and State Road 429 in Sorrento.
Investigators say deputies received a report at approximately 7:13 a.m. of a body located in a grassy area alongside the interchange near Sleepy Bear Lane. Troopers determined that a vehicle was not involved in the incident.
Preliminary evidence indicates the victim, a 49-year-old woman from DeBary, fell from SR-429 onto SR-46 and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The exact time of the incident has not yet been determined.
FHP says next of kin have been notified. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall.
