FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Full-volume testing of the Museum Fire/Spruce Wash flood area siren alerting system has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 10 at 1 p.m. due to recent weather conditions.
The scheduled siren test is a critical step in preparing for the upcoming monsoon season. It will ensure that the emergency alerting system—installed in 2022—is functioning properly to notify residents in the Grandview Homes and Sunnyside neighborhoods of any imminent flash flooding threats.
During the test, residents can expect to hear an alarm tone, followed by a voice message repeated three times in English, Spanish, and Navajo. Each test cycle will end with a “wind down” siren sound. This sequence may be repeated several times during the testing period.
To familiarize yourself with the siren tones or to learn more about the system, visit: www.museumfloodprojects.com/sirensystem.
City officials emphasize that this siren system is supplemental and does not replace the Emergency Notification Alert system. All residents in the area are encouraged to register for free and confidential text alerts at www.coconino.az.gov/ready.
If rain or smoke is present, testing may be delayed. For further information, contact Daniel Kelly, City of Flagstaff Emergency Program Manager, at Daniel.Kelly@flagstaffaz.gov.
Stay alert, stay informed, and stay safe this monsoon season.
