FHP Searching for Blue Sedan After Crash Injures State Trooper on Fowler Avenue

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help identifying a blue sedan that troopers say triggered a crash involving an FHP patrol car on Fowler Avenue.
According to FHP, an 18-year-old New Port Richey woman was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on Fowler Avenue. A fully marked Florida Highway Patrol vehicle, driven by a state trooper, was traveling eastbound ahead of her.
As the vehicles traveled west of Club Drive, investigators say a blue sedan exited a private driveway on the south side of Fowler Avenue and entered directly into the path of the patrol car.
The trooper was forced to stop abruptly and successfully avoided hitting the blue sedan.
However, the driver of the Nissan Altima was unable to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the FHP patrol car.
According to investigators, the driver of the blue sedan then completed a U-turn and left the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the Nissan was not injured in the crash. The state trooper suffered minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is now attempting to identify the blue sedan and its driver.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dash camera footage, or has other information that could help investigators identify the vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol by calling *FHP (*347).
Additional information about the blue sedan was not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
