Verizon Work Van Fire Shuts Down I-275 Northbound

FLORIDA — A Verizon work van caught fire on northbound Interstate 275 Sunday morning, forcing traffic to stop as thick smoke covered part of the roadway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers and Fire Rescue responded to the vehicle fire near the 11 milepostaround 9:25 a.m. on Aug. 31, 2026.
Traffic camera images showed heavy black smoke pouring from the vehicle as emergency crews worked at the scene.
Because of the amount of smoke, northbound traffic was blocked while firefighters handled the fire and crews worked to make the roadway safe.
FHP said no injuries were reported.
Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays until the scene is fully cleared.
