Investigators say a 4-year-old boy visiting with his family from Georgia became separated from his family moments before the incident. Deputies say the child later entered the community pool, where he drowned.
Bystanders at the scene quickly pulled the child from the water and immediately began life-saving CPR while waiting for emergency crews to arrive.
The child was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital, but despite those efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
Authorities say the case remains ongoing, but preliminary findings indicate the separation from family occurred shortly before the incident.
Officials continue to stress the importance of constant supervision around water, especially for young children. Drownings can happen quickly and silently, even in familiar environments like neighborhood pools.
