Downtown Mesa Set to Shine: Merry Main Street Tree Lighting Kicks Off the Holiday Season
MESA, AZ — Downtown Mesa is about to sparkle a little brighter. The 2025 Merry Main Street Kick-Off Tree Lighting Celebration is happening Friday, November 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the city is promising a full dose of holiday magic, community cheer, and a few surprises along the way.
The festivities take place at Mesa’s iconic Christmas Tree at 1 N. Macdonald, where families, friends, and holiday enthusiasts will gather to officially launch a month packed with seasonal fun.

Food, Music, and Festivities Starting at 5 p.m.
The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with plenty to enjoy:
- Food trucks serving cozy, winter-friendly flavors
- The Sunset Market, offering unique holiday gifts and handcrafted goodies
- Festive music by the Mesa City Band, setting the perfect holiday mood beneath the twinkling lights
The Mesa City Band, known for keeping America’s community band tradition alive, will treat the crowd to everything from classic Sousa marches to modern holiday tunes. And as always, they’ll share the stories behind the music — giving audiences a glimpse into the history woven into each note.
The Big Moment at 5:45 p.m.
At 5:45 p.m., the spotlight turns to the stage as the Mayor, City Council, and several special guests kick off the official tree lighting countdown. And this year, organizers are teasing a mystery guest appearance that has everyone guessing.
Could it be a festive celebrity? A beloved character? Santa himself? Mesa isn’t saying — but they promise it’s someone you won’t want to miss.
A Month of Magic Ahead
The tree lighting marks the beginning of Merry Main Street, a month-long celebration filled with activities, entertainment, and holiday spirit throughout Downtown Mesa.
