Teen Driver Killed in Early Morning Crash on East Gospel Island Road

INVERNESS, FL – A tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old Inverness man early Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on East Gospel Island Road, just east of South Van Buck Drive.

Troopers say the teen was driving a Chevy Malibu westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the highway, rotated, and entered the north shoulder before crossing back over the road. The car then veered onto the south shoulder and collided with a tree.

The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No passengers were reported in the vehicle, and no other cars were involved.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
