APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — A woman was arrested after police say her neighbor was shot during an incident in Apache Junction on Friday evening.
According to the Apache Junction Police Department, officers were called to the area of Mountain View Road and Broadway Avenue in Pinal County at approximately 7:30 p.m. on August 22 following a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers provided assistance to the injured man until he could be transported to a Valley hospital. Police said his injuries initially appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Investigators identified the suspected shooter as 37-year-old Elizabeth Ward, who police said was a neighbor of the victim.
Authorities said Ward returned inside her residence following the shooting.
As the situation developed, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Pinal County Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene and took over the operation.
Ward later came out of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident, according to police.
She was subsequently booked into the Pinal County Jail on multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police have not released additional information about what may have led to the shooting or the relationship between Ward and the victim beyond confirming that they were neighbors.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is the primary investigating agency in the case. Apache Junction Police said additional questions regarding the investigation should be directed to PCSO.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details could be released as they become available.
