Updated June 2nd, 2026 at 8:45 am EST - According to Osceola County Fire Rescue, crews responded to the ALDI located on Cypress Parkway at approximately 2:45 p.m. Monday following a report of a possible refrigerant leak. As a precaution, the building was evacuated while firefighters conducted multiple searches of the store using air-monitoring equipment to detect any hazardous materials.

Fire officials said no hazardous conditions were found during the investigation. After crews completed their assessment and confirmed the building was safe, the store was turned back over to management for normal operations.

POINCIANA, Fla. — Customers and employees were evacuated from an ALDI supermarket in Poinciana Monday after a reported gas leak or other possible hazardous leak triggered a significant emergency response.

The incident occurred at the ALDI located at 864 Cypress Parkway in Kissimmee. Deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office and crews from Osceola County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and quickly established a safety perimeter around the store.

Authorities shut down access to the supermarket and surrounding areas while emergency personnel worked to determine the source of the reported leak. Multiple fire engines, rescue units, and a battalion chief responded to the incident. Firefighters also deployed hose lines outside the building as a precaution while crews assessed potential hazards.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing customers and employees gathered outside the store as emergency responders conducted their investigation. Large crowds of residents also gathered nearby seeking information about the incident as emergency vehicles remained staged throughout the area.

Video from the scene showed a heavy emergency presence, including fire apparatus, sheriff's deputies, rescue personnel, and equipment positioned around the evacuated store.

UPDATE: According to Joshua Holder with Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS, the incident was determined to be related to a possible refrigerant leak and no hazardous conditions were ultimately found.

"Our personnel responded to a gas leak call at the ALDI on Cypress Parkway around 2:45 yesterday related to a possible reported refrigerant leak," said Joshua Holder, Public Relations Outreach Specialist with Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS. "The building was evacuated as a precaution and crews conducted multiple searches of the building with air monitoring devices to check for the presence of any hazardous materials in the air. No hazards were found and the building was safely turned over to the occupant."

The ALDI store was evacuated Monday afternoon while firefighters investigated the report. Crews used specialized air-monitoring equipment to assess the building and ensure there were no hazardous materials present. Following the investigation, officials determined the building was safe and turned the property back over to store management.

The store remained closed Monday afternoon as crews continued to investigate and monitor conditions. Authorities have not announced when the business will be allowed to reopen.
