Tempe Police will be featured on the national live TV series On Patrol: Live beginning May 29, giving viewers a real-time look at police patrols, calls, and community policing in Arizona.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe Police officers are about to step into the national spotlight.

Beginning Friday, May 29, the Tempe Police Department will be featured on the hit live television documentary series On Patrol: Live, giving viewers across the country a real-time look at policing in one of Arizona’s busiest cities.

The nationally televised program follows law enforcement agencies live as officers respond to calls for service, conduct patrol operations, and navigate the unpredictable realities of police work as it unfolds.

Hosted by Dan AbramsOn Patrol: Live airs Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. MST on REELZ, and has become one of cable’s top-rated programs in its time slot.

For Tempe Police, department leaders say the opportunity is about much more than television cameras.

“People often see police work through headlines or brief moments in a crisis,” said Tempe Police Chief Ken McCoy. “On Patrol: Live allows us to share a broader picture of our officers, our values, and the many ways we serve and connect with the community.”

The department says participating in the series will offer the public a closer and more transparent look at what officers face daily—beyond the emergency calls that often dominate news coverage.

From routine traffic stops and neighborhood patrols to critical incidents and community interactions, viewers can expect an unfiltered look at life behind the badge.

Tempe joins a rotating lineup of law enforcement agencies from across the country featured on the series, ranging from small-town sheriff’s offices to major metropolitan police departments.

The move also comes as public interest in real-time police programming continues to grow, with many viewers tuning in for a raw look at how officers handle tense, emotional, and sometimes dangerous situations as they happen.

Supporters say programs like this can help build public understanding and trust through transparency, while critics of police reality television have previously raised concerns about privacy and how incidents are portrayed.

For Tempe residents, the show could offer a rare opportunity to see familiar streets, neighborhoods, and officers appear on national television.

More information about the series can be found on the official On Patrol: Live FAQ page.
