LEFT FOR DEAD: Pedestrian Critically Injured in Dover Hit-and-Run

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a 33-year-old man fighting for his life following a collision in Dover Friday night.

According to FHP investigators, the incident occurred at approximately 8:35 PM on February 6, 2026, at the intersection of State Road 574 (MLK Boulevard) and Pettie Road.

Troopers report that an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR-574 when a pedestrian—identified as a 33-year-old man from Guatemala—walked into the path of the vehicle. The impact was severe, but rather than stopping to render aid, the driver fled the scene immediately.

The victim was rushed to a local area hospital with critical injuries, where he remains under medical care.

Vehicle Identification

Based on specific vehicle parts recovered by troopers at the crash site, investigators have determined a detailed description of the suspect vehicle:

  • Type: Ford F-250 or Ford F-350 Pickup Truck
  • Color: Red
  • Model Years: 2017–2019

The vehicle is expected to have fresh front-end damage as a result of the collision.

Public Assistance Requested

The Florida Highway Patrol is reminding the public that leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury is a first-degree felony.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has information regarding a red Ford pickup matching this description with recent damage, is urged to contact authorities immediately. Tips can be submitted by calling *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS (8477).
