Troopers Seize Drugs, Weapons, and Cash After Arresting Wanted Man Near Arizona Capitol
PHOENIX — A routine patrol near the Arizona State Capitol turned into a major drug and weapons bust on November 28, 2025, after an Arizona Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a man for crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), the Trooper approached the man—who was pushing a stroller across the roadway without a crosswalk—and conducted a standard records check. The man presented an out-of-state driver’s license, and the check quickly revealed he had an active warrant from another state.
The man was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant. During a search incident to arrest, the Trooper uncovered a staggering haul of illegal drugs, weapons, and cash. Items seized include:
- 10 ounces of methamphetamine
- 1.5 ounces of fentanyl powder
- 1 ounce of fentanyl pills
- Large amounts of currency
- Two pistols
- Two digital scales
- Packaging materials
- Multiple cell phones
- Unused glass smoking devices and needles
