Osceola County, Florida – The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a growing scam targeting local motorists involving fake court notices designed to look official.
According to Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon, several individuals in Osceola County have reported receiving documents that appear to be legitimate court-issued notices. However, authorities confirm these notices are fraudulent and not issued by any real court.
Officials say the scam is designed to create urgency and pressure recipients into taking immediate action—often by scanning QR codes, clicking malicious links, or sending payments.
⚠️ What You Need to Know:
- This is a scam, not a real court notice.
- Do NOT scan QR codes or click any links included.
- Do NOT send money or provide personal information.
- Always verify directly with the court if you are unsure.
The Sheriff’s Office urges residents to pause before reacting and carefully examine any unexpected legal notices. Scammers often rely on fear and confusion to trick victims into acting quickly without verifying the information.
“Verify before you act,” officials emphasized. “If something doesn’t seem right, contact the court directly using official channels.”
Residents who believe they may have received one of these fraudulent notices are encouraged to report it to local authorities.
