Man Killed in Golf Cart Incident Near Busy Mesa Intersection

Mesa, AZ — Mesa Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a golf cart near Greenfield and Southern Avenue that claimed the life of a man Friday evening.

Officers responded to reports of a collision just after 4:00 p.m. Initial information indicated the crash involved a golf cart and a pedestrian. According to witnesses, a golf cart was lifted off a man at the scene, and CPR was immediately initiated by a nurse who happened to be nearby.

Both the man and a woman believed to be associated with the golf cart were transported to a local hospital. Police later confirmed the man succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators have since determined that both individuals were occupants of the golf cart prior to the incident, and that the man had exited the cart before the collision occurred. Police say impairment is believed to be a contributing factor.

iSkyNews.com reporters were on the scene of this tragic crash, where a Mesa Police Crime Scene Van was observed and police tape blocked all eastbound and westbound lanes of Southern Avenue just east of Greenfield as the investigation continued for several hours.
