Over One Million Fentanyl Pills Seized in Major Southern Arizona Bust

TUCSON, AZ — More than one million fentanyl pills are now off the streets after a massive narcotics seizure conducted by members of the Southern Arizona Counter Narcotics Alliance (CNA) during a traffic stop along I-10 near Cortaro.

According to officials, CNA detectives initiated the stop as part of an ongoing investigation. During a search of the vehicle, investigators uncovered an astonishing 245 pounds of fentanyl, packaged in vacuum-sealed bundles and hidden inside the vehicle. The estimated street value: $5.5 million.

Photos shared with iSkyNews.com show stacks of seized narcotics, a handgun, and a passport recovered during the investigation. A trained K-9 with the task force helped identify the concealed drugs.

Authorities say the defendant ultimately pled guilty to numerous felony charges, bringing the case to a successful conclusion.

Law enforcement agencies emphasize that fentanyl remains one of the most dangerous and rapidly growing threats throughout Arizona. The Tucson Police Department, working alongside regional partners, says they are fully committed to intercepting drug trafficking operations and preventing these deadly pills from reaching the community.

“Every seizure like this represents lives saved,” officials noted, underscoring the ongoing work of CNA and other agencies battling the fentanyl epidemic.
