BANGKOK — A cat in Thailand was “arrested” and had a mugshot taken after repeatedly attacking police officers following its rescue and subsequent arrival at a police station, amusing countless netizens across the internet.
On May 9, 2025, a Bangkok police officer known online as Da Parinda Pakeesuk shared the tale of an unusual “offender” — a lost American Shorthair cat brought in by a concerned citizen.
According to Officer Pakeesuk, the feline — named Nub Tang (which translates to “counting money”) — scratched and bit officers who attempted to handle her. In a lighthearted Facebook post, Pakeesuk wrote:
“This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out.”

A humorous mugshot-style photo of the cat behind bars quickly went viral, with users worldwide joining in the joke. One observer quipped: “That cat looks like she is frowning. She does not seem too grateful for her rescue.” Another joked: “Hey kitty, without this officer, you would be homeless right now!”
Later that evening, Officer Pakeesuk posted an endearing photo of Nub Tang perched in his car, explaining that he had taken her home for the night. He also noted he had prepared a cozy set-up of food, litter, and toys for his unexpected guest.
The case was officially “closed” when the cat’s rightful owner came forward to claim her.
