Burglary Suspect Returns to Scene and Confesses to Detective in Wahneta

Wahneta, FL (April 16, 2025) — In an unusual turn of events, a burglary investigation in Wahneta took a surprising twist when the suspect approached the detective on scene and voluntarily confessed to the crime.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning at a local charity organization. A bystander witnessed a man entering the building and removing property, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

During the course of that investigation, a detective identified the suspect as 40-year-old Clinton Dale Dean, Jr.

But before law enforcement could track him down, Dean made their job much easier—by returning to the scene and initiating a conversation with the detective. In that exchange, Dean reportedly admitted to the burglary and theft.

Dean was arrested on the spot and transported to the Polk County Jail. He now faces charges of burglary and felony petit theft.
