Hernando County, FL – A Saturday morning drive turned deadly when a collision between a sedan and a tractor-trailer left one person dead and two others seriously injured in Hernando County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened just before noon on March 15, 2025, at the intersection of SR-50 and South Main Street.
A 39-year-old man from Ridge Manor was driving a Kia K5 sedan eastbound on SR-50 when he attempted to turn left at the intersection. Tragically, his car crossed directly into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer, driven by a 61-year-old Brooksville man. The truck slammed into the sedan, causing a violent crash.
The truck driver was unharmed, but the driver of the Kia and his two passengers suffered serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. Sadly, a 71-year-old Ridge Manor woman, one of the passengers, did not survive her injuries. The other passenger, a 49-year-old Ridge Manor woman, remains hospitalized along with the driver.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash. So far, authorities haven’t said if speed, impairment, or other factors played a role.
This is a developing story.
