Phoenix, AZ — A dangerous incident unfolded overnight on Arizona roadways when a speeding driver flew past an Arizona Highway Patrol State Trooper at an alarming speed of 91 miles per hour — then accelerated even further to 97 miles per hour through an active construction zone.
According to the Arizona Highway Patrol, the vehicle was weaving between lanes and recklessly passing other cars, posing a serious threat to other motorists. Thankfully, the trooper was able to initiate a traffic stop before tragedy struck.
Photos from the scene show the driver being taken into custody and placed into the back of a patrol vehicle. The driver was arrested and booked for DUI and additional charges.
