Road Closed After Elderly Man Fatally Struck in Mesa
MESA, AZ — According to the Mesa Police, an elderly man was tragically killed after being hit by a vehicle in Mesa on Friday morning. According to the Mesa Police Department, the incident occurred just after 9:30 a.m. near McDowell Road and Ridgecrest, east of Power Road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity has not yet been released.
Both southbound lanes remain closed as of 1:30 p.m. while authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
We spoke with several people in the area, who reported that vehicles are frequently seen speeding along this stretch of road, despite the posted speed limit being just 35 mph.
