No Donkeys in Bathtubs! Arizona’s Weirdest Laws Part 1

Mesa, AZ (iSkyNews) — Arizona is famous for its wild deserts, breathtaking sunsets, and rugged history. But if you dig into the state’s law books, you’ll find something even more interesting: some truly weird laws that are somehow still in place today.

Let’s start with one that always gets people talking — it’s illegal for a donkey to sleep in a bathtub. Sounds like a joke, right? But this law came to life back in the 1920s when a donkey took a snooze in a tub that got swept away by a flood. After a dramatic rescue, the town of Kingman decided they'd had enough of donkey bath-time disasters!

Here’s another one: you’re not allowed to hunt camels in Arizona. Yep. In the 1800s, the U.S. Army brought camels here for desert transport. When the project flopped, the camels were left to roam free. Even though they’re long gone now, the law protecting them stuck around.

Arizona also once worried about too many women under one roof. There’s a law that says no more than six women can live in the same house — it was originally aimed at stopping brothels. Now, it's just a dusty old rule that makes people laugh.

Oh, and in Prescott, don’t even think about riding your horse up the courthouse steps. Yes, that’s actually a law.

Hang tight — Part 2 is coming next! We’re talking cactus crimes, soap punishments, and how Arizona protects your right to win at claw machines!
