Motorcyclist Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 27 in Lake County

Lake County, FL — A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday night, March 29, in a three-vehicle crash along U.S. 27 at Sawgrass Bay Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash occurred around 11:22 p.m. and involved a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle, and a 2023 Tesla Model Y—all traveling northbound in the center lane of U.S. 27.
FHP investigators say the driver of the Mercury, a 78-year-old man from Clermont, failed to notice the motorcycle traveling ahead of him. As a result, the sedan struck the rear of the motorcycle. Moments later, the Tesla behind the Mercury was unable to avoid the collision and struck the back of the Mercury.
The motorcyclist, a 39-year-old woman from Davenport, was transported to AdventHealth Four Corners Emergency Room, where she was pronounced deceased. She had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
None of the drivers or passengers in the sedan or Tesla sustained injuries, and all remained on the scene.
Authorities have confirmed that next of kin has been notified, and the crash remains under active investigation by FHP.
