Mesa, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — A bizarre single-vehicle crash disrupted a quiet Tuesday morning in Mesa after a car slammed into a wall, brought down powerlines, and ended up in a canal.
The incident happened just after 10:00 a.m. on North Sossaman Road, just north of Broadway Road. According to Mesa Fire & Rescue, crews responded swiftly after receiving a 911 call about a vehicle that had lost control and crashed off the roadway. Upon arrival, firefighters found the car had struck a wall, taken down nearby powerlines, and landed in the canal that runs parallel to the road.
Emergency responders immediately secured the area and checked the driver, who, according to authorities, was uninjured and refused medical transport. Mesa Police officers and the Crime Scene Unit arrived shortly after to assist with the investigation and scene safety.
All City Towing was dispatched to the scene and successfully removed the vehicle from the water. Despite the dramatic crash, no injuries were reported, and there was no damage to other vehicles or nearby structures beyond the initial impact site.
By 11:40 a.m., the roadway had been cleared, and all responding units were back in service. Utility crews are expected to assess and repair the damaged powerlines.
Mesa officials remind drivers to exercise caution and remain aware of their surroundings, especially on roads near canals and construction areas.
