Mesa, AZ - According to the Mesa Fire Department, a massive apartment fire broke out at Eastbrook Homes in Mesa, Arizona, on Sunday evening, leaving multiple residents displaced and two people injured.

At approximately 8:00 PM, Mesa Fire & Rescue responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at 2301 E University Dr. Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames and smoke erupting from Apartment 253 on the second floor. The blaze was quickly upgraded to a 1st Alarm Fire, prompting the dispatch of multiple fire engines, a Command Van, a Battalion Chief, and an Investigator to the scene.

Casualties and Emergency Response

Fire crews found two individuals suffering from burns, who were treated on-site. Additionally, two dogs were rescued from the apartment unharmed.

Unfortunately, the fire resulted in three apartments being declared a total loss, with meters pulled from the affected units. Residents were forced to evacuate as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

Disaster Relief and Investigation

The Red Cross was dispatched to provide assistance to displaced families and animals, while a boarding company was called in to secure and board up the damaged residences.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and an official investigation is underway.
