Massive RV Fire Erupts in Mesa On Broadway Road

Mesa, AZ — A dramatic RV fire sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky over Mesa on Sunday afternoon, drawing a large emergency response and causing significant traffic disruption.
Around 1:30 p.m. on April 13th, Gilbert Fire & Rescue received a 911 call reporting a recreational vehicle fully engulfed in flames at the intersection of Gilbert Road and Broadway Road. Upon arrival, crews from Gilbert Fire & Rescue, Mesa Fire & Rescue, and Mesa Police found the RV completely consumed by fire, with heavy smoke visible for miles.
The vehicle involved has been identified as an older model Class C motorhome, likely from the late 1980s to early 1990s. Despite severe fire damage, the van-style cab chassis and boxy design were still visible at the scene.
Firefighters quickly deployed multiple engines to tackle the intense blaze, working efficiently to bring the flames under control. Eastbound Broadway Road was closed to allow crews safe access to fight the fire and protect the surrounding area.
As of 3:03 p.m., two tow trucks were on scene to assist with the cleanup and removal of the destroyed RV and debris from the roadway. Authorities have advised that the roadway will remain closed for at least another hour as the cleanup continues.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Officials have not yet released information about the cause of the fire, and an investigation is expected to follow.
