Chandler, AZ — A tragic situation unfolded this afternoon in a quiet Chandler neighborhood after a domestic violence call turned deadly.

Just after 12:15 PM, Chandler Police officers responded to a home near the 600 block of E. Commonwealth Ave. after several 911 calls came in. Witnesses reported that an elderly neighbor was seen asking for help, saying there had been a heated argument with a family member.

One caller told dispatchers that a 27-year-old man involved in the argument was armed with a knife and had made suicidal and threatening statements toward a relative.

When officers arrived, they found the man outside the home, still holding the knife. Officers immediately gave him clear commands to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply.
