Homicide Investigation Underway in Deltona After Early Morning Shooting

DELTONA, Fla. — A deadly shooting is under investigation this morning after deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on the 3200 block of Parma Drive in Deltona at approximately 2:23 a.m.

An adult female victim was found deceased at the scene. Investigators quickly identified the suspect, who was known to the victim. Within an hour, the suspect fled the area and ultimately crashed his vehicle in Flagler County. He was taken into custody by law enforcement shortly after the crash.

Authorities from both the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO) and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) are working together on the case and say a comprehensive update will be released later today.

While the toll bridge in the area has since reopened to vehicle traffic, it remains closed to pedestrians and bicyclists. A designated media staging area has been established on the northwest side of the toll bridge entrance.
