Fleeing Suspects Caught After High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash on I-4

Polk County, FL — Two suspects are in custody following a dangerous pursuit that spanned multiple counties and ended in a crash on Monday, April 7, 2025.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle fled the scene, prompting HCSO’s Aviation Section to assist in tracking the fleeing suspects from above.

The pursuit continued eastbound on Interstate 4, with the suspect vehicle driving recklessly as it entered Polk County. The chase came to an end when the suspects’ vehicle collided with another car. Both occupants then attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of Polk County deputies and HCSO’s Aviation team, the two individuals were quickly located and arrested without further incident.

“Recklessly fleeing from law enforcement is not just a poor decision. It is a threat to everyone on the road,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This kind of criminal behavior puts lives at risk and will be met with serious consequences.”

No injuries were immediately reported in connection with the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
