Weeki Wachee, FL – A car fire in Weeki Wachee could have turned into a much bigger disaster, but Hernando County Fire Rescue acted fast to contain the flames before they spread to a nearby building.

Just before noon on Sunday, March 16, fire crews rushed to the 7300 block of Shoal Line Road, where a vehicle parked under a carport had caught fire.

When Engine 12 arrived, flames were already pouring from the engine compartment.

Firefighters moved quickly, knocking down the fire before it could spread to the structure. No one was hurt, and the building was spared from damage.

Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the fire.
