Firefighters Respond to Apartment Fire at Bridgewood Townhomes in Mesa

Mesa, AZ - Mesa Fire & Rescue responded to an apartment fire at the Bridgewood Townhomes on 930 S. Dobson Rd. after receiving a 911 call around 5:30 PM today.

When the first fire engine arrived, crews saw heavy black smoke coming from one of the apartments, though no flames were visible. The call was upgraded to a working fire, prompting reinforcements from Mesa Fire & Rescue, the Battalion Chief, Tempe Fire Department, and SRP.

Firefighters evacuated the area and closed roads for safety. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported. However, two cats suffered smoke inhalation and received on-site treatment. As a precaution, an AMR Ambulance was also dispatched.

Mesa Police shut down the entrance to the complex while fire crews battled the smoke. The fire has since been extinguished, and a Mesa Fire Investigator is on scene working to determine the cause.
