Lake County, FL – Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the intersection of County Road 44 and Cypress Drive in Lake County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 4:09 a.m., when a 2015 Ford Focus traveling eastbound on County Road 44 struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway for unknown reasons.

Vehicle: 2015 Ford Focus (Sedan)

Pedestrian: 40-year-old Wildwood woman
Injuries: Fatal
Next of Kin Notified: No (as of report time)
Following the collision, the pedestrian was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined why the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the crash.
