Polk County, FL - According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO), A routine compliance check by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office turned into an arrest on Monday, March 3, 2025, when a Davenport convenience store clerk was caught selling alcohol to a 15-year-old.

Deputies were conducting another round of Operation Pop-Top, an ongoing initiative that ensures businesses follow the law by refusing to sell alcohol to anyone under 21. The operation uses high school students from the PCSO’s Cadet 1000 program—a group of young people interested in law enforcement—to see if store clerks are checking IDs properly.

Sheriff Grady Judd didn’t mince words about the results: “On Monday, deputies visited a dozen stores, and all but one refused to sell alcohol to the student. It should have been all twelve refusing, but one sales clerk was irresponsible, and she ended up getting a ride to the county jail for selling beer to a 15-year-old.”

The clerk in question, 18-year-old Kween Baker, worked at the RaceTrac on US 27 in Davenport. She was arrested and charged with Selling an Alcoholic Beverage to a Person Under 21, a misdemeanor offense.

Sheriff Judd has been vocal about the importance of these operations, saying they play a key role in preventing underage drinking and ensuring businesses follow the law.
