Auburndale, FL (iSkyNews.com) — A Polk County woman is facing serious charges after authorities say she intentionally ran over another woman with her car upon seeing her walking with the suspect’s estranged husband.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Christdon Reese of Auburndale was arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder, Trespassing, and Violation of Probation following the April 10 incident. Detectives obtained a warrant that same day, and Reese was located and taken into custody the next morning on Tower Manor Circle East. She is now being held at the Polk County Jail.
The situation unfolded when the victim and her boyfriend—who is Reese’s estranged husband—walked to a Circle K gas station at 4950 U.S. Hwy 92 East to purchase some items. As they crossed Old Dixie Highway heading to a friend’s home, Reese reportedly drove past them in a white Volkswagen Jetta.
Moments later, surveillance footage captured Reese making a U-turn in the Family Dollar parking lot and accelerating back toward the couple. According to investigators, the victim attempted to flee down a residential driveway, but Reese chased her and struck her with the vehicle before fleeing the scene at high speed.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital by Polk County Fire Rescue, where X-rays revealed two spinal fractures. She is expected to survive.
A resident at the home where the incident occurred confirmed to deputies that Reese did not have permission to be on the property, leading to an additional trespassing charge.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd commented on the case, stating:
“Domestic related calls are some of the worst calls to which we respond. When people allow their emotions to take over it can result in injury or even death. This victim was injured but luckily she survived the ordeal. Christdon Reese needs to learn how to control her temper, and maybe some cooling off in the jail will help.”
Deputies also discovered that Reese has been on probation for a 2023 retail theft conviction out of Osceola County, resulting in a violation of probation charge being added to the list.
The investigation remains ongoing.
