1st Alarm Fire Erupts at Mesa’s Polo Club Apartments

Mesa, AZ — A morning fire at the Polo Club Apartments prompted a significant emergency response, according to Mesa Fire & Rescue officials.
At approximately 10:25 a.m., crews arrived at the complex, located at 3319 E. University Drive, to find heavy black smoke billowing from the second-story balcony of Apartment 404. Firefighters immediately upgraded the incident to a working fire, prompting the dispatch of multiple engine companies to the scene.
Moments later, the Battalion Chief arrived and escalated the situation further to a 1st Alarm Fire, bringing in additional units to assist with the aggressive firefight and evacuations.
Mesa Fire & Rescue and Mesa Police quickly began evacuating residents from surrounding units as a precaution. One individual was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but declined transport to the hospital, officials confirmed.
The neighboring apartment unit sustained water damage due to flooding from the firefighting efforts. Utility crews from SRP were also dispatched to the scene to secure the building’s power and ensure safety.
Firefighters successfully contained and extinguished the blaze by 11:27 a.m. Crews remain on-site as they continue their investigation into the cause of the fire.
No further injuries have been reported at this time.
